united states holocaust museum

On my first trip to DC, the lines to the Holocaust Museum were so long that they stretched all the way down to the street. Discouraged, my friend and I ended up trekking all the way back to our hotel. Ever since then, it’s been my goal to visit the Holocaust Museum. I finally had the chance in the fall and I am fortunate that I did. Visiting with my family made me all the more thankful for the life that I have and passionate to speak up for others who need a voice. The USHM also evokes a bittersweet emotion. In an effort to get involved with DC museums the way that I was so deeply ingrained into the community of Chicago museums, I applied as a volunteer, but was not offered a position. Nevertheless, I’m happy that I tried and am still grateful for what the USHM has given me as a visitor.
